Can you recommend a car seat/carrier/stroller?
I'm starting my regsitry, and there are so many options that I don't know what to get. I hated the one I had for my 1st 2 children, the car seat/carrier was SO heavy.
I'm looking for:
Safety
Lightweight
Stroller with good space for diaper bag/shopping bags
Easy to handle
Comfort for baby
Thank you!

I use the Graco Alano Travel System (Dot Swirl) and I love it! The car seat is easy to put in and out of the car, both with or without the base, and my son seems very comfortable in it, he sleeps a lot in it. It isn’t too heavy… my son is only 3 1/2 months and weighs 15lbs already and I’m not very strong but have no problems carrying him around. But it seems sturdy enough to be safe.
My favorite part of the system is the stroller. It is very lightweight, it opens and closes easily and can open with one hand, and has cup holders (for both the kid and parent) and plenty of storage on the bottom (I can easily fit the diaper bag, my purse, a baby blanket, and my jacket down there). The car seat fits in the stroller perfectly and is very easy to put in and out. And the stroller handles very nicely- it is easy to push and maneuver. And for a full size stroller, it doesn’t take up too much room. I have a smaller car (Chevy Cavilier) and I can get the stroller in and out of the trunk easily with room to spare.
Good luck!
ORBIT
its the best just a bit expensive
They are really all pretty heavy and on every one you read about someone who felt it was too heavy and others who thought it was great. I think it comes down to personal preference.
I’d recommend going to Sears or Babies ‘R’ Us and just trying them out – put something weighted in the carrier so you get an idea of what it will be like to carry it around with the baby. My husband and I did this and we were already pretty sure of what we wanted just from doing research online. We went with an Evenflo Aura Elite travel system, primarily because of the "z" handle and because the stroller has a one-handed steering/push thing – that’s pretty handy. We both thought that would make it easier to carry, but I don’t think it makes any difference. Most of the time, I carried my son around in the carrier on my arm (like a really big, heavy purse). He didn’t get jostled as much that way.
I know my son has never objected to his carrier (he was out of it at 6mos, though), and we find there’s plenty of room for bags and there’s little compartments to put things, which is really nice. Drink cups, too, which we love as we take water bottles everywhere we go.
Anyway, you’re best bet is to go and look at the store and try out what they have on display – collapse the stroller, look through it, etc.
