Car seat recommendations for a large infant?

My 8 month old son weighs 32 pounds (he's tall too) and has outgrown his Graco infant seat. Not sure what to do. Ive looked at toddler seats and they are typically rated to 35 pounds rear facing and 40 pounds forward facing. That means he can only be rear facing for another month or so...but I wanted to keep him rear facing for as long as possible. Does anyone know of a carseat that is rated at a higher weight? At this rate, he'll hit 40 pounds before he's even 1 year old!

We are in the same boat…almost. Our son is 3 months old and already 18lbs, seems to be gaining a pound a week almost. Its going too fast! Since your little guy is so, well, not little, I would recommend getting a convertible carseat. You might check out the Britax Marathon or a Recaro seat (I believe its the como model) they go rear facing longer than most. Both seats are more spendy, but worth it considering the law is to rear face up to a year and your guy is getting so big.

Wow. He is rather big for eight months. I thought my son was big…but he is evening out now (was 24lbs at 9 months and is about 26lbs at 15 months now). How about one of the Britax ones that go from 15 to 65 pounds. I am pretty sure they can be rearfacing for as long as you need them to be (around here it is a year AND 20lbs). We are getting the Marathon for our son due in Nov. It accomodates larger children.

We are looking at a convertible seat for our little guy. I’ve heard good things about the Britax ones, unfortunately they are a little bit pricey. We are looking at going with the TrueFit, which I have also heard great things about. Does rear facing to 35lbs and ff to 65
