convertible car seats- safety?

I was reading the report about infant car seats and was wondering if anyone knew of any studies on convertible car seats? ANy suggestions on what are some good ones?

    I read the article on the infant car seat it seems to be the base more than the car seat so if your convertible car seat has a base don’t use it if you are concered, but it also said children are safer in a car seat than with out. I don’t like to use the convertable car seat with just the seat belt it slot you slide the seat belt through seem to be a bit useless, but I love my alpha omega covertible seat, but I just move to a booster when they are over 40lbs, I like the Grace one.
