Do you have car seats in both of your vehicles or do you move one back and forth?
I drop my son off at daycare and my husband picks him up. Up until now he fit in the infant carrier and we both had bases. Now, however, it looks like we're going to have to buy two car seats...

We have two cars. My husbands work commuter car is a cavalier with 2 door. We dont keep a carseat in there. We just keep Ryans seat in our family car.. It works for us because I am a SAHM. In your case, it sounds like it would be way easier to have a second seat.
We have a car seat in each vehicle for our 2.5 yr old. We only have one infant seat in the SUV and that does on move. In about 3 months we will need a larger seat for the infant, so at that point we will buy two….one for each car.
We had two carseats, one infant seat that came with a stroller combo that we got from my husband’s mother, and a convertible car seat that we got from a friend who was finished with it. We checked to make sure the used carseat was still up to date with all the regulations, and then put that one in my husband’s car, since he doesn’t drive with our baby as much. Now that she outgrew the infant seat, we bought 1 carseat, but still use the convertible seat also.
We are going to have to buy two as well. We have your same situation but in reverse. Just look for some good sales and stagger the purchase. I found the first years true fit on sale for $150 ($50 cheaper than normal at amazon.com) so I went ahead and bought one even though we don’t need it quite yet. That way it won’t be such a large expense all at once to buy two.
we move the one car seat back and forth between cars. if we bought one for each car it would be a major financial drain- that would be five carseats for us! just think one for my partners car, one for mine, one each for both our vintage mercedes and one for my mother in laws car! plus now that my mother has had car seat bolts fitted to her car, she’ll be taking him in her car occasionally too.
we only have one base, our carseat is the graco safeseat that fits up to 30lbs/30inches. we leave the base in my hubby’s truck and move the car seat back and forth from his truck to my car, i don’t usually take my car very much, we usually go to the babysitters and back home in my car. we take my hubby’s truck for just about everything else

My husband and I have two car seats one for each vehicle. I think its very difficult to move those big car seats back and forth. Just wait for a good sale. They come on sale all the time.
That’s what we do with the infant car seat but when we have to get the bigger car seat we will buy two since he will be using them for more years than the infant carrier.

We just bought a convertible car seat and only plan on buying one. I am a SAHM and we only take my husbands car once or twice a month, so we will just move it when we need to. IF it gets to annoying then we might buy another. But I think the one will work just fine for us.
