I have a Graco Snugride?

My son is a year old and for his birthday we got him a convertaible car seat. I want to keep this carseat in Daddy's car. My son is very tall and lean. He is 30 inches tall and only 21 pounds. SO he still fits in the car seat but his little feet hang out.
My question is how long can we use the infant carseat? I read the owners manual and it does not have weight limits in it.
The new one will last him until he is 80 pounds and 52 inches tall

The Graco Snugride weight limit is 22 lbs according to the Graco website and other sites that sell the carseat. The seat should not be used after your child is 22 lbs.

the weight limit is 20-22 lbs for all infant seats rear facing

Only to 22 lbs. I believe he’s exceeded the length limit already. It’s time for a new convertible seat for the other car, too.

Infant seats are outgrown when a child reaches the weight limit, or more commonly when the child has less than one inch of plastic shell above his head.

Infants then move to a rearfacing (RF) convertible seats and MUST remain RF until at least 1 year AND 20lbs, but should remain RF until the limits of the seat (30-35lbs in the US).

The recommendation from safety experts and the American Academy of Pediatrics is to rearface (RF) to the limits of the seat which is 30-35lbs on all seats sold in the US. My 3 year old daughter still rides RF and prefers it over FF.

I have included several links with great pictures and videos of what happens to children’s necks when they are FF in a crash.

Most people are concerned about their child’s legs being scrunched or broken in a crash. There is absolutely no evidence that shows a child’s legs are in danger and I would much rather deal with a broken leg, than a broken neck.
