Hopefully someone can help me. I own a 1997 Geo Tracker 2 door convertible and I want to know if it is possible to install a baby car seat in my vehicle.

Yes – you will be able to use a car seat in there. You may need a locking clip if your seatbelts do not lock. I don’t know what type of seatbelts are in that car, though. Pull the shoulder belt all the way out slowly (in the backseat) then feed it back in – if it ratchets back in, making a little clicking noise, and locks so that you can’t pull it back out, it locks and you can easily install a car seat. If it doesnt – there’s a good chance you’ll need a locking clip (comes with car seats) to secure the seat safely.
If your seatbelts don’t lock – then the best way to go is to purchase a car seat that has built-in lockoffs, b/c those little metal H shaped locking clips that come with seats are a major pain! THat really narrows the field, though. The only infant carrier I know of with built-in lockoffs is the Graco SafeSeat1. If you need a convertible car seat, the Compass TrueFit (also sold under First Years TrueFit) and Britax Marathon/Decathalon/Boulevard and Roundabout all have built-in lockoffs. To know which seat would work best, I’d have to know if its for a newborn or know the child’s age , weight and height.
