From carrying the carseat, it could be a simple muscle strain or sprain. If it’s while typing, it could be carpel tunnel or tendinitis. Both are repetitive motion disorders.
Try giving your hands a break and rest them as often as possible!
Have you used your one hand this much before?….If not then you’ve probably over used the muscles in you thumb/hand causing stress and muscle pulls…….see your GP (doctor) or Physiotherapist.
I can’t tell you what the pain is, only a doctor is going to be able to help you with that, but I can tell you injuries from carrying infant car seats are really common. A much better way to tote your baby/toddler/preschooler: get a sling, wrap, or pouch and ‘wear’ him. It evenly distributes the baby’s weight throughout the strongest part of your body – your torso, so there’s no strain in the back, arms, or wrists/hands. Also, keeps your hands free so you can get things done while still giving him the holding time he needs to develop properly. And, you can nurse while he’s in one too!
