My backseat is angled so is it safe to put things under his car seat base for my 6 month old to recline?
I have a chevy malibu with tilted back seats and I just bought him a convertible car seat. He is 28" and 22lbs and can't fit into any infant car seat because the harness won't stretch any farther. All convertible car seats have close to the same recline and he needs it, so is it ok to put something under the base where it's belted so that he can lay back? It reclines fine when it's not in my car so it's not the manufacturer; my angled seats make it so he's up straight and can't nap.
Or do you know of a car seat that reclines farther without having the front seats leaning forward? His seat would be in the middle, but the one I have is still too wide and puts the passenger seat forward.
Thanks

I am not really getting a visual, but I would say, as long as it goes back, you should be fine. If you are making it tilt, than I wouldn’t do that. It’s made for a certain angle, and for safety, so don’t mess with that. If your little one is tired, he will fall asleep in any position – GL!
Yes, you can roll up a towel and put it underneath (that’s what I do). Or else you can buy one of those pool noodles and cut it and use that. I’ve heard that it works well too.
My owner’s manual for both of your car seats say that it’s okay to use a tightly rolled towel or a piece of pool noodle to get the proper angling. Either option usually works very well.
Would putting the seat in the middle help it to sit more level? I know that it’s a big seat in a small car, but can the pass anger seat be moved forward a bit?
My car is the same way… I have pool noodles under the carseat
Before you do anything or use anything as unstable as a rolled up towel please call the maker of the seat, the car or both. The seat should never be reclined unless it is adjustable, the baby needs to be in an upright position at all times.
You can also call your sate patrol and schedule an inspection for your car seat. 9 out of 10 car seats are not installed correctly which can be deadly. When in doubt ask a pro, not yahoo for help.
