out and about with baby?
I am going to have my baby girl any day now. I bought a convertible car seat for her instead of an infant one. i was just wanting to know since convertible car seats are not carriers what do i do if i go in a restaurant to eat or something where do i place the baby because people usually have them lay in there car seat. are there any things out there designed for convenient outgoings. thank you very much!!!!!!

Restaurants within the first few months of having a baby is wishful thinking
My daughter would have never stood for being left in her car seat in a building (she barely likes it in the car).
Anytime we have gone out and had a meal she has sat on one of our laps, or slept in our arms, or in a sling.
The sling is very useful.
Snuglis work well and so do those other carriers. A sling type carrier would be better for your daughter and you since she needs to be as close to you as possible. You can find sling type or any other type of carrier just about anywhere. Congrats on the lil one!
I never used an infant carrier with my son–they seemed like more trouble than they were worth, they just add more weight when you are carrying them, and you have to hold the thing at such a strange angle to keep it from bumping into your leg. The safety of placing the carriers on top of shopping carts has been debated in recent years, and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that you don’t do it.
When we went out, I either put my son in his stroller, or I had him in a Baby Bjorn carrier. His stroller was a convertible carriage/stroller thing where the seat fully reclined, so he could lie back and take a nap when we took him out for dinner. If he got fussy, I held him on my lap or took him outside until he was calm. We started taking him out for dinner at some pretty nice restaurants from the time he was three weeks old, and we never had any problems.
If we went shopping where I was going to have to push a cart, I used the Baby Bjorn.
Honestly… I would say go get an infant carrier. You have no idea how often you will use that thing. It’s so much more than just a car seat. Those things hook on to EVERYTHING! From a flipped over restaurant high chair to a shopping cart at the grocery store. Not to mention, if your baby falls asleep in the car, you won’t have to wake her up when you get where you’re going. Other than that, you’re pretty much limited to lugging a stroller around with you.
I usually have them in a pram.
You could also use something like this (in a more attractive colour though) http://cgi.ebay.ca/Cute-AS-A-Button-Soft-Baby-Carrier-Bed_W0QQitemZ200222951227QQihZ010QQcategoryZ20423QQcmdZViewItem
i think u should just go get an infant one too, use the other one when she can support her self. convertable ones are pretty upright, and a newborn wont be very comfy in it, her head will probly flop around.
infant carseats are so convenient, i wish i never had to put my son in a convertable one but obviously had to when he outweighed it.
they arent that expensive, you dont have to buy the most expensive one, they all do the same thing and are all tested for car accidents and safety.
When my fiancĂ© and I go out with our son, I take him in a sling and wear him. We have an infant car seat, but we haven’t taken it out of the car once, I’d rather have him close
It’s very possible to go out to restaurants with your new baby. We just feed him and then go out so he’s just comfortable sleeping while we’re eating and when we’re done I’ll nurse him in the car before we go home.
Good luck!
You should get a Hotsling.
