Suggestions for a convertible car seat?

I need a car seat for a six month girl who is out growing her infant car seat. I need a seat that is safe and can fit rear facing in the back a PT Cruiser. I'm looking at the Alpha Omega Elite and the Evenflo Triumph Advance. Britax or Sunshine is not an option because of the price so please don't suggest it or make me feel guilty for not buying it. Does any one know of features I need to look for or have a suggestion for or against any seats out there? I'm totally confused. Thanks in advance for you help!
I've read that the Alpha doesn't recline in rear facing mode with out taking up a lot of space and the Evenflo has an odd buckle shape that digs into babies legs. Are these things true?

We like the Alpha Omeda Elite (especially the Eddie Bauer Eddition) BUT after two kids and lots of spendy seats we found that the cheaper ones are better…they are lighter, beat up the seat less and the kids like them all the same…also they leave a lot of room around them the Alpha takes up SOOOOO much room. We have a large SUV and no one could sit in the front or driver but really short people like me becuase it took up so much room and the seat had to be 2 inces from the car seat (when rear facing). That’s why we ended up selling that one and buying 4 regular ones from Fred Meyer…for when they ride with other people and then we don’t have to hassel with taking ours out.

Also-the convertible seats don’t have as good of safety ratings as nice as it is to buy just one seat.

My daughter’s current convertible seat is an Evenflo Tribute (I believe) in brown plaid. If you search for "evenflo brown plaid" you will find it. It’s at Walmart, Amazon, etc. It is around $55 and we have been reasonably satisfied with it. It has good reviews and seems sturdy. I think out of all the ones you named, that seat the had the best reviews for the price. I wasn’t able to find the exact one we bought, but here is a very similar one: http://www.amazon.com/Evenflo-Tribute-Convertible-Car-Seat/dp/B001H0GEXO/ref=sr_1_57?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1232731168&sr=1-57

    HI

You can go to your local police department Or fire station and get good information They also give very good seats away for free and give you instructions on how to use the seat properly I don’t have any information on the seats you mentioned
