Where can I get a infant car seat with a shoulder strap to carry it?

I saw a couple on tv who were carrying their children in their car seats and the seat had an over the shoulder carrier strap. I would love to know where to get a seat like this. I am so tired of trying to carry my sons seat 2 inches off the ground. It kills my back since I am so short and he weighs so much. I think the show I saw it on was on TLC and they were a couple from england. I need this seat!!!!!!!

The car seat you saw was the Orbit Baby infant seat and saying it’s expensive is an understatement: http://www.healthchecksystems.com/orbit_baby_stroller_systems.htm.

Why not just get a sling? I never took my sons carrier off the base after I got one. Its just so much easier on your back, not to mention easier than lugging a bulky clanky plastic blob with a screaming infant in it.

We didn’t use the carseat either in stores. A sling works wonders, it’s lighter, and not cumbersome at all. I hate to carry the infant car seat let alone wear it on my shoulder!

Even if baby is sleeping, I slip them into the sling- and they are fine. I did this with our second and third child. They go right back to sleep because they are all nestled in.

I agree, a sling would be easier. Although I can see how it might be useful if Baby was asleep in the car seat.

Wow its cheap!! I want one now! lol

-I think this is a very good idea, especially if all you want to do is pick the baby carseat up and walk from the car into the grocery store or wherever then you can just pull it off and put the carseat in the cart. Easy as that! But for longer walking ofcourse i wouldnt recommend this i wouldnt even recommend carrying a carseat! Thats why they make strollers :) (Im not telling you anything you dont know though! We all know they weigh a ton!)

I think it’s a strap that attaches to the seat, not the seat itself.

Why not carry your baby on your body? Those seats weigh a ton!

i like the ERGO for such reasons!

Yeah, it’s a strap that you attach to the car seat, like in the amazon link above.

I love how the woman in the pic looks like she’s carrying a feather, haha…Those things are freakin’ HEAVY!

I saw a woman with one when I was still pregnant and thought it seemed like a good idea until I realized it was still going to weigh me down and all of that weight would be on one shoulder.

Check out a sling or wrap…your back will thank you!

There was an actual seat made a while back that had a cloth strap for carrying. It was a really cool seat, but they are all pretty much expired now and unsafe to use. I’ve seen those strap products and 2 things should concern you:
    1) you should never ever use an after amrket product with a car seat. I mean – its a little scary to me, what if it comes undone? The car seat wasn’t made to be carried by a strap.
    2) OUCH! infant carriers are just too heavy to be carried this way.

Get a sling. A ring sling or a Mei Tei carrier are awesome. If you want the absolute most versatility, get a wrap. You can carry your baby in many many different positions from newborn through toddlerhood. And your baby will thank you. They prefer to be closer to you as much as possible – and with a sling it allows you to have your hands free and hold your baby. And if you’re nursing, you can nurse hands free once baby gets the hang of it. Car seats are meant for the car, not for grocery stores and malls and church and gyms and etc… the list goes on and on of all the places babies are now left to sit in their carriers. Its not at all good for them – even the car seat’s manual will tell you it is for car seat or stroller use only and not to be used for extended periods of time. Save your back and get a sling.

Incidentally, the product is called the flying falcon

And just gives me the willies.

go to google and type Infant car seat along with the country name ( ), [ if you are in UK type UK] You make a note of the websites that are available and search for your descriptions. I am sure you will be successful in getting one by this method.
