Where can we get a baby's car seat fitted properly in Australia?
Baby Bunting can do it for a charge of but we need the money at the moment if we can keep it as I might be going into labour early (on medication to starve off contractions) and we have had to make sure everything is bought for the baby in time.
Do the fire brigade install them like I have heard?
Anywhere else?
Picking up the baby car seat today and would like to make sure that it is installed properly if we can get help to check that!
Live in Victoria Australia thank you very much!

I live in the US there are a variety of places that do it here. Police stations, sheriff offices, DMV(Department of Motor vehicles) Some hospitals and baby stores have installation experts as well. Often you have to make an appointment as it can be on certain times or days
If you are unsure about how to fit your child restraint, or have any queries about specific fittings, or you would like to have the installation of your restraint professionally checked, contact your local motoring authority for details of approved fitters. Some motoring organizations (RACQ in Qld & RACT in Tas) (contact details in more information section below) and some safety bodies, such as Kidsafe (in ACT, NT, Qld, WA), and Australian Red Cross (in SA, WA) will also check or fit seats
Hey…I live in NSW, so it may be a little different, but her- the hospital has a service that can fit the car seat for you (for a fee…not sure how much)…so when you go to an antenatal appointment, you can just drop the car off with them and when you pick it up- it will all be done.
Also, your local RTA (roads and traffic authority) can do the checks to make sure they are installed properly. Sometimes they wont fit it for you, but they will check to see if it is installed correctly and fill out the necessary paperwork to prove so.
(After having my son in 2008, the hospital would not let me leave unless I produced a note stating that the car seat had been installed and met all safety requirements….this may not be all hospitals, but was the case at the John Hunter with the midwife who was responsible for my care..
